Over-Seas House is the ideal city centre location for a civil partnership ceremony. With its unrivalled views of Edinburgh Castle from its function rooms and Honeymoon suite along with our excellent service ensures a wedding that everyone attending will remember.

The Princes Suite and Castle Restaurant are for your exclusive use: The Princes Suite for pre- meal reception and evening reception; The Restaurant for the meal and evening buffet.

There is no room hire charge for the above two rooms, only the cost of the menus and drinks packages you select. Over-Seas House is licensed till 1 a.m. seven days a week.

If you wish to have the ceremony on the premises, the Robert Louis Stevenson room is available at a charge of £260, this has lovely views of Edinburgh Castle from its large floor to ceiling bay window.

The Honeymoon suite is provided with our compliments on the night of your ceremony when booking a meal & evening buffet for 45 or more.

We can also assist in organising seating plans, flowers, bands or discos, provide placecards and a cake stand as part of our service.

We have a key for Queen Street Gardens which is a lovely setting for photographs. The pond in this garden has a small island in it, where it is said Robert Louis Stevenson (who lived opposite the gardens), played as a child and later wrote the classic Treasure Island. There is now a fee of £50 payable to the Trustees of the garden for the use of the gardens for photography. Due to popular demand for the gardens book it is recomended that you book them when booking your ceremony to avoid dissapointment. The couple can take advantage of our roof top vantage point to have a photo with the Castle in the background.

Princes Street is now re open after being closed for 10 months for tram works. We have an arrangement with the police to allow wedding limousines along Princes Street and to stop outside Over-Seas House. The whole of Princes st will not be closed again for tram works, the major tram works have been completed.
